Ah, summer holidays! Lovely! I remember as a child looking at that 6 weeks off as a literal eternity to do as I pleased! Summer holiday TV in the morning, playing outdoors indefinitely, no rush in the morning….no school uniform – hurrah! I loved it. Then when I left education I forgot all about school summer holidays, until I retrained to be a primary teacher. Then it became something you dragged your exhausted self towards and collapsed face first in an unfeasibly large gin when you got there! When I became a parent too and it became a combination of end of term exhaustion and the reality of dropping straight into full time parenting – hang on! What just happened to that much needed collapsing opportunity!?
If you are a parent of school age children summer holidays you are now juggling your kids, childcare AND your work, or, if you are working in schools you are just in that exhausted heap, or if you are a parent and work in schools you are now juggling your kids 24/7 and wondering when the break you needed so badly is going to kick in. And, if you aren’t a parent of school age children you might be feeling a bit fed up because so many things just seem to stop over the summer! Maybe you are off on holiday for a week or two, maybe you aren’t tied to the insane summer holiday price window, or maybe you are lucky enough to be able to travel for lots of the holiday or are off to see family in other countries.
Well, as those of you who come along to Emma’s Yoga Hut know, here we work with term time (ish!) 6 week blocks, this is to help manage the course bookings and to keep things in manageable chunks, but also its because I am an ex school teacher with a school age child, so I fear my brain is very much wired this way, possibly for eternity!
Here at Emma’s Yoga Hut we do not want to leave you high and dry on the yoga front during August, so we are offering, with love, a series of pre book drop in classes across the holidays. These will be classes which are suitable for everyone, involving plenty of lovely asana (the yoga poses) a little pranayama (the breathing) and a super relaxing guided meditation as a reward for all your hard work! There might even be a little bit of aromatherapy in some of the classes too!
I hope that this timetable gives you something to look forward to that is just for you in the summer. Maintaining your yoga practice and giving a bit of routine and stability to August, or just in terms of giving yourself the odd break, a bit of time for yourself amongst juggling everything over that period, all without the commitment of a 6 week block.
As summer is a time we are out out: physically outside, more social, being more active, it is good to temper that with some quiet time and focus on you, that way you don’t burn yourself out.
All these classes are stand alone, hour long sessions which are suitable for everyone, they are priced at £11 per session and, because Emma's Yoga Hut is so tiny, you need to advance book online. Sign up for as many or as few as you like, remember there are only ever 3 places per class and classes get filled fast, so if you see something that you like the look of get in quickly, get it on that calendar and get excited about a spot Summer-Time yoga!
