Leaning into the seasons - Welcoming in Summer!

I hope this blog post finds you well?

June 1st sees the start of meteorological summer, and June 21st the Solstice. But April and May have been beautifully warm and sunny so it can kind of feel like we have been enjoying summer for a while already this year. You never know, the actual summer might even stay warm and sunny if we are lucky!

Here at Emma’s Yoga Hut we work alongside the seasons. The world around us is beautifully in bloom and we are heading towards the energetic peak of the year - lots of light, lots of warmth. For our next block of yoga classes we will be leaning in into nurturing our highest energetic self by focussing on inner strength, self compassion and acceptance and peace. We will be using movement, breath, meditation and even a little bit of sound healing to support ourselves in doing so.

Every Solstice and Equinox I have grand plans and ideas of doing lovely things and somehow life seems to get in the way. This summer though I finally set about arranging a trio of beautiful events for the solstice aiming to offer something for everyone! Midsummers Eve Sound bath for meditative, calming self care, Dawn Yoga - Sun Salutations and guided meditation followed by coffee and croissants for the early birds amongst us, and a peaceful Midsummer Rest class – long, deeply relaxing yoga poses followed by a guided meditation with sound. These events have all already sold out – but if any of those sound like a way you would like to mark a solstice or equinox then never fear – Autumn Equinox will see a similar set of lovely events to help you live in alignment with the seasons.

Here are some ideas for little things you can do to get the most out of the season of summer:

Pick some flowers! If you have a garden enjoy it by choosing a few stems and grasses to put into a little bottle or jar; or if you are out and about pick some daisies and take yourself back to summer as a child and make a daisy chain!

Simply sit outside for your morning tea / coffee / juice / water – whatever your preferred wake up drink is! If the weather is questionable then maybe just open a window and enjoy the sights, sounds and scents of summer.

If you like a more dynamic start to your day then run through sun salutations outside – its a lovely thing to do on a summers day!

Make a to – do list. Not a chores list – oh no! We all have too many of those already. This is a to do list of the things that you would LOVE TO DO over the summer months. Then put them in your diary! These could be anything, strawberry picking, having dinner outside on sunny evenings, taking a walk along a river, visiting a sunflower farm or taking in a festival. Big or small, just write down that list and then enjoy your summer adventures!

What is on this summer at Emma’s Yoga Hut?

Well, a fair bit including our weekly classes, lunar sound baths and solstice offerings! But here are the things where there are spaces available:

Chair yoga on Monday and Wednesday 10 – 11 Earley Crescent Resource – there are a couple of spots available in these gorgeous, inclusive classes so if you know anyone who would like to come along point them in this direction!

Summer Sound bath at Earley Crescent Resource Centre: Friday 25th July sees our summer sound bath, leaning into the theme of summer with an ocean and seafront themed meditation and immersive sound experience. All rounded up with a grounding treat and oracle cards. Earley Crescent Resource Centre: 630 – 745pm

Sturgeon Moon Luxury Sound bath at Emma’s Yoga Hut: Not a glamorous full moon name this one, but still a beautiful sound bath limited to only 3 spaces. Everything you need is provided – double yoga mats, bolsters cushions, blankets, lavender scented eye pillows and a sheepskin to lie on. We finish with homemade blissballs and herbal tea with our oracle cards. Thursday 7th August 700pm - 815pm

Hope to see you soon!

With love,

Emma xx
