Cosy Season at Emma's Yoga Hut!
Well, after a long hot summer I think we can safely say that Autumn is now with us, there is a nip in the air, the breeze has a chill and there is plenty of rain for the garden. And now with the weekends clock change and November looming we are very much shifting into the dark part of the year.

So this term we are going full cosy with our yoga practice: In the hut we will be working with extra restorative practices, yin practices, extended rest through yoga nidra. We will be grounding, nourishing and reconnecting back inwards, coming home to ourselves in the quieter part of the year.
As Autumn moves into winter the trees literally send their energy and effort downwards, into their roots. Their leaves drop to the ground, offering shelter for insects and small animals, and then they mulch down to nourish the earth, pouring nutrients into the same earth that then feeds the trees own growth next year. And so, when we too take the time to slow down, turn inwards and nourish ourselves with gentle yoga, resting, meditation and gentleness, we can offer ourselves the same quietness and nourishment for our own growth.

Generally I love autumn, but honestly this year the cold and dark feels so abrupt after that long summer and very pleasant start to the season. I have been struck down by seasonal bugs that somehow I usually dodge, had a bout of vertigo, and now have my old hip injury flaring up. As a result I feel a bit out of sorts and needing some extra self care! To gently bring myself back into alignment I am drinking warming spiced herbal teas (Winter Warmer tea by Pukka is a particular favourite right now!) practicing some very gentle yoga to ease my way through injury. Making sure I get outside every day; even on the days when it rains non stop. I have swapped over to some very light and gentle reading to soothe the mind, and am taking a nice early nights to try and get some extra rest. Plus, I am making lots of nourishing vegetable and bean soups to nourish the body. But mainly, I am giving myself time, time to rest and recuperate as these darker colder months arrive, because I know from experience that powering through often creates more problems than it solves!

The body starts with whispers to tell you to slow down, and then when you ignore it it will eventually shout at you - and honestly, it is not very subtle when it does that! Learning to listen to the whispers, or to even pre-empt them when you know you are in a high pressure situation, can help prevent the body going to extremes and forcing you to stop!
If you feel as though extra nourishment and self care is in order then we have a November rest session to lead you into deep relaxation: yin yoga, yoga nidra and a mini sound bath. As the shortest day approaches will be in house luxury winter solstice gong baths with mince pies and herbal teas and seasonal oracle cards. These events are designed to be little mini retreats from our everyday lives; fairy lights, candles, beautiful essential oils, soft blankets and lovely little treats. An opportunity to be in a safe and cosy space where you have full permission to be yourself and rest just as much as you need to! Book your spot here: https://www.emmasyogahut.co.uk/services-4

Our weekly yoga and chair yoga classes start again week of 9th November, I am looking forward to seeing my lovely weekly class people again next month! In the mean time, take good care of yourselves and stay cosy!
With love,
Emma xx
