Early Spring: What do you need right now?

I hope this blog post finds you well? Meteorological Spring is with us, the spring equinox is very soon - there are flowers budding, the first signs of leaves are on the trees, and its so much lighter in the morning and evening. I have certainly been feeling a distinct lift in my mood and energy in recent weeks. As we slowly emerge from our wintering it is a time when there is a lot of talk about new energy and new growth and all this newness of spring. Spring is so lovely, but as a transitional season it is not a time of constancy, it is one of changeability. As such we might well find we are not always fully imbibed with this new energy of spring!

Aligning with nature is always a good starting point. Think of the daffodils - they resolutely and brightly put their heads up regardless of the frosts, the winds, the rain, or even the sun. They are deeply rooted, secure and hardy. There are going to have daffodil days for sure! On the flip side a whole heap of life have not even started waking up. They are cosy underground, and choose to protect themselves from the changeability of early spring for a little longer, knowing they will not fair well against frosts and wild winds and downpours of rain. We can mirror this, taking it slower when we need to and daffodiling (yes, I have definitely just made that word up!) when we don't.

The key to this window of time, this transitional period between the extremes of winter and summer, is to ask yourself, regularly, What is it is you need right now? You might find your response is as changeable as Spring herself. I have alternated between wanting to curl up with a book and a blanket and arranging big whole outdoorsy days out. Our energy at this time is going to be just as changeable as the weather and the temperature - so check in with yourself regularly!

This time of year is where the new year used to be considered to have begun. So if it feels like a good time for you to set intentions and work towards goals, then that might be why! It is certainly a time where it feels more likely that you can achieve these than in the very depths of midwinter!

At Emma's Yoga Hut this time last year I had begun working towards running Chair Yoga and Sound baths. This year I am not sure exactly what comes next or how it will look! I am leaning towards running small Women's Circles which would align with equinoxes and solstices, with fire in the winter and flowers in the summer, meditation, sound healing, gentle movement and safe spaces to share and just be. I am heading off to a retreat to deepen my training and knowledge of Women's Circles in early October, so this might be an Autumn or Winter offering. There are also some plans afoot to offer an online 7am Friday morning class, so people can simply roll out of bed and onto their yoga mats (in their PJs!) and then get on with their days without the hassle of travel, then getting ready for yoga then getting ready for the day ahead! Do let me know what you think of these ideas, and let me know about other things you might like to see on offer at Emma's Yoga Hut.

All our weekly classes are fully booked, along with all of our March events and May events and most of our April events. Here is what is currently on offer at Emma's Yoga Hut:

April 16th Spring Sound Bath at Earley Crescent Resource Centre: singing bowls, chimes, rain sticks and other instruments to help bring you to a place of meditative peace. All surrounded by flowers and fairy lights and wrapped up with oracle cards and a little Easter treat!

May 2nd: Friday Rest and Unwind Yin and Yoga Nidra, come and join us for some profound, nourishing relaxation. The ideal opportunity to relax the body, the mind and the soul. Herbal teas and homemade treats to ground and nourish us before we head home at the end.

As you might have noticed all our Full moon and New moon luxury sound baths are fully booked up right up until the end of May. It seems dizzying to be already talking about June and July when New Years feels 5 minutes ago - so dates will come out for those sound baths in early April.

I hope you enjoy the new growth, warmth and light of Spring. And remember to keep asking yourself - what do I need right now?

With love,

Emma xx
