Late Summer Lazing; what happens over August at Emma’s Yoga Hut!

I hope this blog post finds you well? The summer term of classes is drawing to a close, our last Wednesday class is 15th July 2025 and our last Monday class is 21st July 2025. And then the late summer sees a big slow down here at Emma’s Yoga Hut! Our evening classes pause until September, chair yoga continues but with a reduced drop in class alternating Mondays and Wednesdays (dates below!) and July 25th sees our summer sound bath at Earley Crescent Resource Centre; ideal if you want to lean into the energy of summer regardless of what the weather it up to. We will be guided through a restful beachside meditation with ocean drum and chimes before the soothing sounds of singing bowls wash over you, washing your cares away, there are 2 places left.

SUMMER DROP IN CHAIR YOGA DATES: Wednesday 30th July, Monday 4th August, Wednesday 13th August, Monday 18th August 10am - 11am, £10 Earley Crescent Resource Centre. No need to book, just come along!

A large part of what Emma’s Yoga Hut is about is supporting peoples wellbeing by helping to provide a welcoming and safe space for meaningful rest. The world is busy and we carry a seemingly endless list of demands and expectations and responsibilities. Having an opportunity to step away from that and look after yourself through yoga, sound or meditation can be a really helpful way to support yourself in dealing with these daily pressures.

In order to offer this meaningfully and effectively I need to give myself rest and respite too – having sailed close to the wind with burnout a few times I take these things much more seriously! You have almost certainly heard the phrase you cannot pour from an empty cup, and it is a very true statement. If this is an area that feels particularly relevant to you it is worth checking out my blog post on the Triptych of Meaningful Rest for more on this!

Sunflowers for Summer!
Sunflowers for Summer!

So, to look after myself in August I slow down, resting in order to rise!

I will be heading off to the World Yoga Festival for 3 days of gorgeous yoga, sound, meditation and whatever other delights are on offer – every year I go I try and find something to try that I have never done before, or have never heard of before, in fact this is how I discovered sound baths many years ago! I will also be off on a family holiday getting some lovely beaches, forests and cosy pubs in, catching up with friends and hopefully swimming a lot with my lovely daughter (my frozen shoulder and her teenage mood allowing!!) and generally working through the nice things on my summer “love to do” list (including visiting a stone circle and finally getting to one of those sunflower fields!)

We start again in Autumn - my favourite time of the year - with the Harvest Moon Full Moon luxury Sound bath on Sunday 7th September. Our Weekly classes – both evening yoga and chair yoga restart the week of 8th September.

The end of September sees the Autumn Equinox and brings a series of carefully curated small group, luxury yoga and sound events designed to meet your energy where ever you need it to be met, these are already filling up and some are already sold out so do hop in quickly if you are interested. There will also be a similar series of for Winter Solstice, with a fire pit - if the weather allows!

Thursday 18 September: Autumn Equinox Sound Bath 7 – 8:15pm Enjoy the soothing resonance of Tibetan singing bowls and autumnal meditation with oracle cards, herbal tea and home made treats.

Saturday 20 September: 7 – 830am Autumn Equinox Dawn Sun Salutations, autumn guided meditation with sound, followed by freshly ground coffee and freshly baked croissants!

Sunday 21 September 5 - 630pm: Autumn Equinox Rest and Restore: Seasonal Yin Yoga and Yoga Nidra – settle in for long held supported yoga poses to offer deep rest to nourishment to body, mind and soul. Followed by a seasonal yoga nidra with sound, herbal tea and home made treats.

And, coming soon are Emma's Yoga Huts cross quarter day seasonal women's circles: Meditation, connection and sharing - something that is missing from many women's circles currently on offer but the lynchpin and power of these circles - and a short sound bath to sweep away what we do not want to carry forward with us. More details on this in August/September!

Head to the classes and events section if you would like to book a spot.

Enjoy the overblown, lazy beauty of the second half of summer! I would love to hear what you are up to!

With love,

Emma xx
