Summer Break - September Courses & The Return of Soothing Restorative Sundays

Emma’s Yoga Hut is on pause for the summer! I hope you have a lovely summer whatever it is you are up to; whether you are juggling children on school holiday, carrying on business as usual or taking some time away. We will be back for classes week commencing September 11th 2023 for more beautiful yoga!



Come September we are moving away from the high energy of summer. The slowly shortening days and the nip in the early morning air signal a shift towards a more inward, introspective time of year. In the coming September and October term we are focussing on grounding. Grounding simply means we are working with our body, breath and mind to feel calm and connected both to the earth and to ourselves, it helps give us tools which can support us in feeling at home and safe in our own bodies, which in turn can begin to ease and manage the anxiety and stress that crops up in everyday life.


September also sees the return of the monthly Soothing Sunday restorative classes: Ninety minutes of restorative yoga and a lovely extended relaxation in the form of a yoga nidra, also known as yogic sleep.


These nurturing sessions are designed to soothe, support and nourish you, leaving you at peace for your Sunday evening and setting you up for a wonderful nights sleep so you are well prepared for the start your week! Restorative yoga does exactly what its name suggests: It restores the body, mind and nervous system to its factory settings, we use comfortingly sturdy bolsters and soft, fluffy blankets to fully support the body in yoga poses which we hold for up to 10 minutes at a time – we get all the benefit of the yoga asana with barely any stress on the physical body. This allows our central nervous system to let every part of our body and mind know that we are fully rested, relaxed and rested. This will be followed with a Yoga Nidra, which is a beautiful form of guided meditation – we work through relaxing our body, our breath and our mind to access soothing, nurturing deep relaxation. All you need to do is make yourself comfortable with those fluffy blankets, enjoy the essential oils and fairy lights in Emma's Yoga Hut and simply lie back, relax and listen!
