Hello!
I hope this post finds you well and enjoying the languid and beautiful phase of late summer.

I hope that you have had a wonderful Summer? I have really enjoyed seeing some of you at the August drop in sessions! I hope that the end of August sees you feeling well, properly warmed through and having had lots of lovely adventures in the sunshine.
The summer is a time of being out-out, a time of expending our energy outwards; maybe travelling, being outdoors more often physically and socially. I love this time of year, the point where the earliest signs of Autumn sneak in, where candles can be lit in the evening and there is a slight nip in the air in the mornings. As we begin to gently shift towards the golden month of September where late summer and early autumn meet, our energy starts to wane a little - the gentle beginnings of letting go and slowing down, starting to return to a more inward energy where we can focus on our internal landscape and what we need in order to thrive.

We will be spending this coming half term exploring the Yamas of Yoga. These are the guiding principles of yoga which move beyond the yoga poses we practice in class. We will be looking at softly and compassionately applying them to our physical yoga practice (Asana) and maybe letting them flow a little into your daily life.
Loosely translated from Sanskirt these guiding principles are; Non-violence, truthfulness, non-stealing, moderation and non-greed. We have worked with some of these before – especially Ahimsa – non violence, which I am sure I mention waaay to often! But we will explore these a little more in class whilst putting them into a usable, relevant context in our yoga practice and for our everyday lives.
For example, the idea of "non-stealing" probably sounds so obvious it might feel irrelevant to you and your life. But, how about a moment to think about how you maybe steal from your own energy and time reserves, where you take on more than you really can manage, the times you say yes when you really meant no? That is where the concept of non-stealing becomes a key tool for maintaining our wellbeing and happiness. Some gentle nourishing yoga to refill that energy, the time and space to acknowledge how this might show up in your own life, and to take with you a reminder of your own worth and your right to protect your own energy levels going forward. In this way these ancient Yogic Yamas are principles aimed at helping us build and maintain happiness and wellbeing both on and off the yoga mat even in our fast paced modern world!

Classes are starting again the week of 12th September and running through until the October half term, the last class of the term is week of 17th October 2022.
Like lots of people the seemingly endless price increases in, well, pretty much everything, have meant I have needed to make some changes around Emma’s Yoga Hut. Firstly, it is with great sadness that I have had to put the price up to £70 for a 6 week block. I have put this off for as long as possible and am not pleased to have to make the change. Alongside this I have taken on a more time consuming library role to go alongside Emma’s Yoga Hut. This job includes working late on rota on Thursday evenings. As a result, in order to still be present for my family I have made the decision to change the timetable so there will now be no Tuesday classes. However there will be 2 classes on Monday (6:45pm - 7:45pm and 8:15pm - 9:15pm) and 2 on Wednesday (6:30pm -7:30pm and 8:00pm - 9pm)

I hope that this does not cause too much inconvenience and that you are able to find a space! The timetable might change again as things bed in and new patterns are established, I will let you know for the late autumn early winter term if anything new will be added!
I very much look forward to seeing you again soon!
With love,
Emma x
